Gary Becker, Ph.D.

Gary Becker, Ph.D. is a professor of economics and sociology at the University of Chicago and recipient of the 1992 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for extending the domain of microeconomic analysis to a wide range of human behavior and interaction, including non-market behavior. Dr. Becker is recognized for his expertise in human capital, economics of the family, and economic analysis of crime, discrimination, and population. His current research focuses on habits and addictions, formation of preferences, human capital, and population growth. Dr. Becker was with Columbia University and the National Bureau of Economic Research for twelve years before returning to the University of Chicago, where he remains. Dr. Becker earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.
